Version 2 — 31 October 2026
Synthetale — Terms of Use
1. Provider and contact
Synthetale is provided by Artifinal Mikołaj Rej, ul. Wyzwolenia 48G, 78-131 Dźwirzyno, Poland. Contact and problem reports: [email protected]. These terms cover the Android application, its reader, local library, catalog access and optional voice model.
2. Acceptance and permission to use the app
By selecting Accept you agree to these terms, including section 6 and Attachment A if you use the voice model. You may decline and leave the app. We grant you a non-exclusive right to install and use the app for its intended reading and listening functions, subject to these terms and applicable law. The app is proprietary; this permission does not transfer ownership or grant a license to its source code. Mandatory statutory rights, including permitted uses, remain unaffected. Third-party materials retain their own licenses and are excluded from any general reservation of rights in the app.
3. Free MVP and requirements
This version is free, without advertisements, in-app purchases or subscriptions. No app account is required. Internet access is needed for catalogs, remote covers and downloads. Reading imported or downloaded books and speech synthesis work offline once the required files are present. The app reads EPUB and PDF; read aloud currently supports eligible EPUB books only. Storage, network and device limitations can affect availability and performance. Features and catalogs may change in future versions; any future paid offer would require separate information and agreement.
4. Books, catalogs and rights
You may import files that you are entitled to use. Catalog books originate from Wolne Lektury and Project Gutenberg. These organizations do not endorse Synthetale merely because their materials are referenced. Books, translations, editorial material, illustrations and covers may have different rights. Follow the notices and licenses accompanying each edition; retain required credits and license information when sharing or adapting it. Wolne Lektury includes public-domain works and editions or editorial contributions under free licenses, including CC BY-SA and the Free Art License. Project Gutenberg's copyright assessments concern the United States; a book's availability there does not establish permission in every country. Access and use must comply with the law applicable where you are. Catalog inclusion is not a worldwide copyright warranty.
5. Local library and data
You control the files you import and the local settings you choose. Deleting a library book does not erase every associated reading statistic: some records remain so that progress and statistics can be restored when the same book is added again. The reading-data deletion command clears the reading data described in its confirmation, while retaining book files and specified preferences. Clearing Android app storage removes the app's local data; a system backup can later restore eligible data. Keep separate copies of important files. System backup and device transfer depend on Android and your device settings. The Privacy Policy explains the data flows and exclusions.
6. Voice model rules
Speech is generated by AI, not recorded by a human narrator. Pronunciation, interpretation and output may be inaccurate. Do not present synthesized speech as a human recording or as authentic speech by another person. Synthetale uses Supertonic 3 by Supertone Inc. under OpenRAIL-M, with the modifications described in the model notice. The original model license and notice are bundled with the app and available in Information. The use restrictions in Attachment A are binding conditions of your use of the Model and Derivatives of the Model. Do not use the model for any prohibited purpose. This app does not grant additional rights in the books, personal information or other input content. Any sharing or publication of generated audio must also comply with the input content's rights, applicable law and the model conditions. This statement does not promise an audio export feature.
7. Responsible use and age
Use the app lawfully and respect the rights of others. The app is a general reading tool with an open literature catalog; available books are not all suitable for children. It is not designed as a supervised children's library. Where you lack legal capacity to agree to these terms, obtain the permission or representation required by applicable law. We do not require an in-app date of birth or identity verification.
8. Availability, complaints and liability
We aim to keep the app usable, but cannot promise uninterrupted catalogs, downloads, compatibility with every file, or error-free speech. External providers may change or remove resources. Report defects or complaints to [email protected], describing the issue and app version; do not send passwords, keys or unnecessary personal information. Diagnostic files are not automatically sent to us. We will consider your report and respond as required by applicable law. Nothing here excludes mandatory consumer rights, mandatory remedies, liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or rights relating to digital content or services. Third-party license disclaimers apply to their respective components within the limits of applicable law.
9. Updates, stopping use and governing law
You may stop using and uninstall the app at any time. A material change to these terms will be identified by a new version and presented for acceptance before further app use; publication of a changed web page alone does not record your acceptance. The bundled copy identifies the version you accept. Polish law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections applicable in their country of habitual residence. No clause restricts mandatory rights to bring a claim before a competent court. Invalid provisions do not invalidate the remaining terms.
